Archaeologists in Mexico have uncovered a 1,400-year-old tomb in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca that had been lost to history. The stone structure, built by the Zapotec culture, known as Be'ena'a, or'The Cloud People', is adorned with sculptures, murals and carved symbols that suggest ritual significance. The Zapotec believed their ancestors descended from the clouds and that, in death, their souls returned to the heavens as spirits.

For decades, the Mendocino triple junction was believed to be where three tectonic plates meet: the San Andreas Fault ending in the north, the Cascadia Subduction Zone in the south, and the Mendocino Fault in the east. Because three major fault systems converge there, the area is one of the most active earthquake zones in the US and could produce a magnitude 8.0 quake. Now, researchers have discovered that the junction actually contains at least five tectonic plates or fragments deep below the surface, making the region far more complex than previously thought. That means there may be an unaccounted earthquake hazard in the area, and current models could be underestimating the true risk.

On Tuesday, scientists with the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the symbolic clock four seconds forward to 85 seconds to midnight . It's also the closest the clock has ever been to midnight in its 79-year history, meaning experts believe humanity has never faced a more dire threat of a world-ending catastrophe than it does in 2026. The group, which decides where the hands are set annually, cited multiple threats to global stability, including nuclear weapons, climate change, disruptive technologies like AI, and the creation of synthetic biological substances called'mirror life.' Alexandra Bell, president and CEO of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, said: 'Every second counts and we are running out of time.

According to experts from the University of Michigan, compared to a new mid-sized SUV with an internal combustion engine, a three-year-old EV version offers lifetime savings of £9,486 ($13,000). In comparison, buying a used petrol version would only save you £2,190 ($3,000) over the car's lifetime. However, the researchers point out that this difference is primarily driven by how fast EVs lose their value compared to other power systems.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, also known as the Promised Messiah and the Imam Mahdi, wrote a 1905 poem describing massive earthquakes and destruction across the world, which some have now interpreted as a warning of World War III . In the poem, published around the time of his death in 1908, Ahmad predicted streams of blood flowing from widespread death, entire regions being wiped out, a massive earthquake, and even strange sky events beyond scientific explanation. It mentions of calamity befalling the Czar of Russia has been seen by some as foreshadowing modern conflicts involving Russia, such as the war in Ukraine and continued tensions with the US and NATO .
